8 Now a new king arose over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 15 Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah and the other was named Puah ; 17 But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt had commanded them, but let the boys live. 18 So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, "Why have you done this thing, and let the boys live ?" 23 Now it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry for help because of their bondage rose up to God. 18 "They will pay heed to what you say ; and you with the elders of Israel will come to the king of Egypt and you will say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. So now, please, let us go a three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.' 19 "But I know that the king of Egypt will not permit you to go, except under compulsion . 4 But the king of Egypt said to them, "Moses and Aaron, why do you draw the people away from their work ? Get back to your labors !" 11 "Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the sons of Israel go out of his land." 13 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and gave them a charge to the sons of Israel and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt. 27 They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing out the sons of Israel from Egypt ; it was the same Moses and Aaron. 29 that the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "I am the LORD ; speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I speak to you." 5 When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his servants had a change of heart toward the people, and they said, "What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?" 8 The LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he chased after the sons of Israel as the sons of Israel were going out boldly .
