Young's Literal Translation
As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.
"Then get yourself an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between you and the city, and set your face toward it so that it is under siege, and besiege it. This is a sign to the house of Israel.
These are the living beings that I saw beneath the God of Israel by the river Chebar ; so I knew that they were cherubim.
who say, 'The time is not near to build houses. This city is the pot and we are the flesh.'
'Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, "Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of the city are the flesh and this city is the pot ; but I will bring you out of it.
"This city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be flesh in the midst of it, but I will judge you to the border of Israel.
"Son of man, your brothers, your relatives, your fellow exiles and the whole house of Israel, all of them, are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, 'Go far from the LORD ; this land has been given us as a possession.'
"It is definitely because they have misled My people by saying, 'Peace !' when there is no peace. And when anyone builds a wall, behold, they plaster it over with whitewash ;
(though he himself did not do any of these things ), that is, he even eats at the mountain shrines, and defiles his neighbor's wife,
'And fire has gone out from its branch ; It has consumed its shoots and fruit, So that there is not in it a strong branch, A scepter to rule.' " This is a lamentation, and has become a lamentation.
on that day I swore to them, to bring them out from the land of Egypt into a land that I had selected for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.
"Also I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands,
"Again, they have done this to Me: they have defiled My sanctuary on the same day and have profaned My sabbaths
"For when they had slaughtered their children for their idols, they entered My sanctuary on the same day to profane it; and lo, thus they did within My house.
"This is a lamentation and they shall chant it. The daughters of the nations shall chant it. Over Egypt and over all her hordes they shall chant it," declares the Lord GOD.
"Then I will set over them one shepherd, My servant David, and he will feed them; he will feed them himself and be their shepherd.
'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Are you the one of whom I spoke in former days through My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days for many years that I would bring you against them?
