Young's Literal Translation
Their banquets are accompanied by lyre and harp, by tambourine and flute, and by wine; But they do not pay attention to the deeds of the LORD , Nor do they consider the work of His hands.
And it will growl over it in that day like the roaring of the sea. If one looks to the land, behold, there is darkness and distress; Even the light is darkened by its clouds.
Then they will look to the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be driven away into darkness.
For thus the LORD has told me, "I will look from My dwelling place quietly Like dazzling heat in the sunshine, Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."
And He removed the defense of Judah. In that day you depended on the weapons of the house of the forest,
And you made a reservoir between the two walls For the waters of the old pool. But you did not depend on Him who made it, Nor did you take into consideration Him who planned it long ago.
I said, "I will not see the LORD , The LORD in the land of the living; I will look on man no more among the inhabitants of the world.
Hear, you deaf! And look, you blind, that you may see.
"Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, Who seek the LORD : Look to the rock from which you were hewn And to the quarry from which you were dug.
"Look to Abraham your father And to Sarah who gave birth to you in pain; When he was but one I called him, Then I blessed him and multiplied him."
"Lift up your eyes to the sky, Then look to the earth beneath ; For the sky will vanish like smoke, And the earth will wear out like a garment And its inhabitants will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not wane.
"I looked, and there was no one to help, And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold; So My own arm brought salvation to Me, And My wrath upheld Me.
Look down from heaven and see from Your holy and glorious habitation; Where are Your zeal and Your mighty deeds? The stirrings of Your heart and Your compassion are restrained toward me.
Do not be angry beyond measure, O LORD , Nor remember iniquity forever; Behold, look now, all of us are Your people.
"For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being," declares the LORD . "But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.
