Look down from heaven1 and see from your lofty throne,2 holy and glorious. Where are your zeal3 and your might? Your tenderness and compassion4 are withheld5 from us.
But you are our Father,6 though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge7 us; you, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer8 from of old is your name.
Why, O LORD, do you make us wander9 from your ways and harden our hearts10 so we do not revere11 you? Return12 for the sake of your servants, the tribes that are your inheritance.1318
For a little while14 your people possessed your holy place, but now our enemies have trampled15 down your sanctuary.1619
We are yours from of old; but you have not ruled over them, they have not been called by your name.a17
