"Woe to him who builds his house without righteousness And his upper rooms without justice, Who uses his neighbor's services without pay And does not give him his wages,
Therefore thus says the LORD in regard to Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, "They will not lament for him: 'Alas, my brother !' or, 'Alas, sister !' They will not lament for him: 'Alas for the master !' or, 'Alas for his splendor !'
"Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of My pasture !" declares the LORD.
'Alas ! for that day is great, There is none like it; And it is the time of Jacob's distress, But he will be saved from it.
'You will die in peace ; and as spices were burned for your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so they will burn spices for you; and they will lament for you, "Alas, lord !"' For I have spoken the word," declares the LORD.
"Ah, sword of the LORD, How long will you not be quiet ? Withdraw into your sheath ; Be at rest and stay still.
Concerning Moab. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Woe to Nebo, for it has been destroyed ; Kiriathaim has been put to shame, it has been captured ; The lofty stronghold has been put to shame and shattered.
Put all her young bulls to the sword ; Let them go down to the slaughter ! Woe be upon them, for their day has come, The time of their punishment.
