Young's Literal Translation
"For now I would have lain down and been quiet ; I would have slept then, I would have been at rest,
"But now it has come to you, and you are impatient ; It touches you, and you are dismayed.
"For then it would be heavier than the sand of the seas ; Therefore my words have been rash.
"Indeed, you have now become such, You see a terror and are afraid.
"Now please look at me, And see if I lie to your face.
"Why then do You not pardon my transgression And take away my iniquity ? For now I will lie down in the dust ; And You will seek me, but I will not be."
If you are pure and upright, Surely now He would rouse Himself for you And restore your righteous estate.
"Who will contend with me? For then I would be silent and die.
"For now You number my steps, You do not observe my sin.
"But now He has exhausted me; You have laid waste all my company.
"Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, And my advocate is on high.
"But now those younger than I mock me, Whose fathers I disdained to put with the dogs of my flock.
"And now I have become their taunt, I have even become a byword to them.
"And now my soul is poured out within me; Days of affliction have seized me.
"And now, because He has not visited in His anger, Nor has He acknowledged transgression well,
"Now men do not see the light which is bright in the skies ; But the wind has passed and cleared them.
"I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear ; But now my eye sees You;
"Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has."
