10Before them the earth1quakes, The heavenstremble, The 2sun and the moongrowdark And the starslose their brightness.
The LORD3utters His voicebefore4His army; Surely His camp is verygreat, For 5strong is he who carries out His word. The 6day of the LORD is indeedgreat and veryawesome, And 7who can endure it?
"Yet evennow," declares the LORD, "8Return to Me with all your heart, And with 9fasting, weeping and mourning;
And 10rend your heart and not 11your garments." Now return to the LORD your God, For He is 12gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness And 13relenting of evil.
14Whoknows14whether He will not turn and relent And leave a 15blessingbehind Him, Even 16a grain offering and a drinkoffering For the LORD your God?
1517Blow a trumpet in Zion, 18Consecrate a fast, proclaim a solemnassembly,
16Gather the people, 19sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and the nursinginfants. Let the 20bridegroomcome out of his room And the bride out of her bridal chamber.
Let the priests, the LORD'Sministers, Weep21between the porch and the altar, And let them say, "22Spare Your people, O LORD, And do not make Your inheritance a 23reproach, A byword among the nations. Why should they among the peoplessay, '24Where is their God?' "
Then the LORDawill be 25zealous for His land And bwill have26pity on His people.
The LORDcwill answer and say to His people, "Behold, I am going to 27send you grain, newwine and oil, And you will be satisfied in full with dthem; And I will 28neveragainmake you a reproach among the nations.
"But I will remove the 29northern army far from you, And I will drive it into a parched and desolateland, And its vanguard into the 30easternsea, And its rear guard into the 31westernsea. And its 32stench will arise and its foulsmell will come up, For it has donegreatthings."
2133Do not fear, O land, rejoice and be glad, For the LORD has done34greatthings.
