A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.
A servant who acts wisely will rule over a son who acts shamefully, And will share in the inheritance among brothers.
A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.
He also who is slack in his work Is brother to him who destroys.
A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city, And contentions are like the bars of a citadel.
A man of too many friends comes to ruin, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
All the brothers of a poor man hate him; How much more do his friends abandon him! He pursues them with words, but they are gone.
Do not forsake your own friend or your father's friend, And do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity ; Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away.
