But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
Evening,1 morning2 and noon3 I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
He ransoms me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me.
God, who is enthroned forever,4 will hear5 them and afflict them-- "Selah" men who never change their ways and have no fear of God.620
My companion attacks his friends;7 he violates his covenant.821
His speech is smooth as butter,9 yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil,10 yet they are drawn swords.1122
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you;12 he will never let the righteous fall.1323
But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit14 of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men15 will not live out half their days.16 But as for me, I trust in you.17
