2 Samuel 1:8

And he said unto me, who [art] thou?
&c.] Being willing to know whether a friend or an enemy, which by his coming behind him he could not tell:

and I answered him, I [am] an Amalekite:
which he might be; but it is not likely he should tell Saul he was, which would not recommend him to him; though indeed he was now in such circumstances, that the Amalekites had nothing to fear from him; and if he was slain by him, as Josephus ^F6 affirms he was, it seems to be a just retaliation on him for sparing any of that race, contrary to the will of God.

6 El joven que se lo había contado, dijo: Yo estaba por casualidad en el monte Gilboa, y he aquí, Saúl estaba apoyado sobre su lanza. Y he aquí que los carros y los jinetes lo perseguían de cerca.

7 Al mirar él hacia atrás, me vio y me llamó. Y dije: "Heme aquí."

8 Y él me dijo: "¿Quién eres?" Y le respondí: "Soy amalecita."

9 Entonces él me dijo: "Te ruego que te pongas junto a mí y me mates, pues la agonía se ha apoderado de mí, porque todavía estoy con vida."

10 Me puse, pues, junto a él y lo maté, porque yo sabía que él no podía vivir después de haber caído. Tomé la corona que estaba en su cabeza y la pulsera que estaba en su brazo, y los he traído aquí a mi señor.
