1 Chronicles 26:24 Meaning and Commentary

1 Chronicles 26:24

And Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler of
the treasures.
] This is the first time that any of the posterity of Moses are taken notice of, as being in any office of honour, authority, and trust; by the Targum he is said to be Jonathan, spoken of in ( Judges 18:30 ) but very wrongly; this man, according to Jarchi and Kimchi, had all the treasures and treasurers under him.

1 Chronicles 26:24 In-Context

22 Jehieli's family: Zetham and Joel his brother were in charge of the treasuries of the LORD's temple.
23 From the Amramites, Izharites, Hebronites, and Uzzielites:
24 Shebuel, a descendant of Gershom, Moses' son, was the chief officer in charge of the treasuries.
25 His relatives through Eliezer included his son Rehabiah, his son Jeshaiah, his son Joram, his son Zichri, and his son Shelomoth.
26 This Shelomoth and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries of the gifts dedicated by King David, by the household leaders, by the commanders of the units of a thousand and a hundred, and by the army officers.
