Psalms 69:24

24 Pour out your anger on them— let your burning fury catch them.

Psalms 69:24 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 69:24

Pour out thine indignation upon them
Not a few drops of it only, but a flood of it, sweeping away and bearing down all before it; which was done when wrath came upon them to the uttermost, in the destruction of their city, temple, and nation, ( 1 Thessalonians 2:16 ) ;

let thy wrathful anger take hold of them;
follow after them, overtake them, seize upon them, and hold them fast, that they may not escape. It denotes the severity of God towards them; the fierceness and fury of his wrath upon them; and that their destruction would be inevitable, and an entire and utter one.

Psalms 69:24 In-Context

22 Let the table before them become a trap, their offerings a snare.
23 Let their eyes grow too dim to see; make their insides tremble constantly.
24 Pour out your anger on them— let your burning fury catch them.
25 Let their camp be devastated; let no one dwell in their tents.
26 Because they go after those you've already struck; they talk about the pain of those you've already pierced.
