Zechariah 1:10 Meaning and Commentary

Zechariah 1:10

And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and
said
And so prevented the angel from giving the account he was about to give; and who was more capable of it, and which to do was great condescension in him, and was doing the prophet a singular honour: these [are they] whom the Lord hath sent to walk to and fro through
the earth;
which is a description of the angels, the ministering spirits sent forth by God to take their tour throughout the earth; not to do mischief, as Satan does; but to do good to kingdoms, nations, and men in general, and to the heirs of salvation in particular; for which they are commissioned and empowered of God; see ( Hebrews 1:14 ) .

Zechariah 1:10 In-Context

8 Tonight I looked and saw a man riding on a red horse, which was standing among the myrtle trees in the valley; and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses.
9 I said, "What are these, sir?" The messenger speaking with me said, "I will show you what they are."
10 The man standing among the myrtles responded, "These are the ones the LORD sent to patrol the earth."
11 Then they responded to the LORD's messenger, who was standing among the myrtles, "We have patrolled the earth. The whole earth is peaceful and quiet."
12 Then the LORD's messenger, who was speaking with me, said: "LORD of heavenly forces, how long will you withhold compassion from Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, with whom you have been angry these seventy years?"
