They which wait upon the altar (oi twi qusiasthriwi paredreuonte). Old word paredreuw, to sit beside, from par--edro, like Latin assidere, and so constant attendance. Only here in the N.T. Locative case qusiasthriwi, late word found so far only in LXX, Philo, Josephus, N.T., and ecclesiastical writers. See on Matthew 5:23 .
