The purpose of Jesus is shown (ina agiash, ina and the first aorist active subjunctive of agiazw, to sanctify), the means employed (dia tou idiou aimato, by his own blood), the place of his suffering (epaqen, as in Exodus 5:8 ) is also given (exw th pulh, outside the gate, implied in John 19:17 ) which phrase corresponds to "outside the camp" of verse Hebrews 11:1 ff.
