Exodus 17:7

The people murmur for water at Rephidim.
God sends them for water to the rock in Horeb.
The place is called Massah and Meribah.
Amalek is overcome by Joshua, while Moses holds up his hands with the rod of God.
14 Amalek is doomed to destruction; and Moses builds the altar JEHOVAH-nissi.

Exodus 17:7  (King James Version)
And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
 


Massah
i.e., Temptation.
