Jesus is transfigured.
11 He instructs his disciples concerning the coming of Elias;
14 casts forth a deaf and dumb spirit;
30 foretells his death and resurrection;
33 exhorts his disciples to humility;
38 bidding them not to prohibit such as are not against them, nor to give offence to any of the faithful.

And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

As these symptoms accord very much with those of epileptic persons, some have ventured to assert that it was no real possession; but the evangelist expressly affirms that he had a "dumb spirit" which tare him, that our Lord charged him to
"come out of him," etc. 20 ; Jude 1:13
