You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand.3 But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life4 and all your ways.524

"This is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN+F25 ARAMAIC "UPARSIN" (THAT IS, "AND PARSIN")+E
"This is what these words mean: Mene"a: God has numbered the days6 of your reign and brought it to an end.727
Tekel"b: You have been weighed on the scales8 and found wanting.928
Peres"c: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes10 and Persians."1129
Then at Belshazzar's command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck,12 and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.1330
