And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you1 but to fear2 the LORD your God, to walk3 in all his ways, to love him,4 to serve the LORD5 your God with all your heart6 and with all your soul,713
and to observe the LORD's commands8 and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?914
To the LORD your God belong the heavens,101112 even the highest heavens,1314 the earth and everything in it.1515
Yet the LORD set his affection on your forefathers and loved16 them, and he chose you,17 their descendants, above all the nations, as it is today.1816
Circumcise19 your hearts,20 therefore, and do not be stiff-necked21 any longer.
17
For the LORD your God is God of gods22 and Lord of lords,23 the great God, mighty and awesome,24 who shows no partiality25 and accepts no bribes.2618
He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow,27 and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.2819
And you are to love29 those who are aliens,30 for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt.3120
Fear the LORD your God and serve him.32 Hold fast33 to him and take your oaths in his name.3421
He is your praise;35 he is your God, who performed for you those great36 and awesome wonders37 you saw with your own eyes.

Your forefathers who went down into Egypt were seventy in all,38 and now the LORD your God has made you as numerous as the stars in the sky.39
