    HATTUSH

    hat'-ush (chaTTush):

    (1) Son of Shemaiah, a descendant of the kings of Judah, in the 5th generation from Zerubbabel (1 Chronicles 3:22). He returned with Zerubbabel and Ezra from Babylon to Jerusalem (Ezra 8:2; Nehemiah 12:2). (There is some doubt as to whether the Hatrush of the lineage of David and the priest of the same name, mentioned in Nehemiah 10:4 and 12:2, are one and the same.) He was one of those who signed the covenant with Nehemiah (Nehemiah 10:4).

    (2) Son of Hashabneiah; aided Nehemiah to repair the walls of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 3:10).
