See to it that no one takes you captive by 1philosophy and 2empty deceit, according to 3human tradition, according to the 4elemental spiritsa of the world, and not according to Christ.
For 5in him the whole fullness of deity dwells 6bodily,
and 7you have been filled in him, who is 8the head of all rule and authority.
In him also 9you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by 10putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,
1211having been buried with him in baptism, in which 12you were also raised with him through faith in 13the powerful working of God, 14who raised him from the dead.
1315And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God 16made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
by 17canceling 18the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
1519He disarmed the rulers and authoritiesb and 20put them to open shame, by 21triumphing over them in him.c
Therefore let no one 22pass judgment on you 23in questions of food and drink, or with regard to 24a festival or 25a new moon or a Sabbath.
1726These are a shadow of the things to come, but 27the substance belongs to Christ.
Let no one 28disqualify you, 29insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, 30going on in detail about visions,d31puffed up without reason by 32his sensuous mind,
