Daniel 10:11-21

11 And he said to me, "O Daniel, 1man greatly loved, 2understand the words that I speak to you, and 3stand upright, for 4now I have been sent to you." And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling.
12 Then he said to me, 5"Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you 6set your heart to understand and 7humbled yourself before your God, 8your words have been heard, 9and I have come because of your words.
13 10The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me 11twenty-one days, but 12Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia,
14 13and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people 14in the latter days. For 15the vision is for days yet to come."
15 When he had spoken to me according to these words, 16I turned my face toward the ground 17and was mute.
16 And behold, 18one in the likeness of the children of man 19touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, "O my lord, by reason of the vision pains have come upon me, and 20I retain no strength.
17 How can my lord's servant talk with my lord? For now no strength remains in me, and no breath is left in me."
18 Again 21one having the appearance of a man 22touched me and strengthened me.
19 And he said, 23"O man greatly loved, 24fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage." And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, "Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me."
20 Then he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? But now I will return to fight against the 25prince of Persia; and when I go out, behold, the prince of 26Greece will come.
21 But I will tell you 27what is inscribed in the book of truth: there is none who contends by my side against these except 28Michael, your prince.

Daniel 10:11-21 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO DANIEL 10

This chapter is an introduction to the prophecies contained in the two following chapters; and begins with an account of Daniel's mourning and fasting, preparatory to the vision he had, Da 10:1-3, and of the appearance of Christ to him, with the time and place of it; who is described by his clothing, and the several parts of his body, which were very glorious, he appearing in a human form, Da 10:4-6, then follows an account of the effects it had upon him, Da 10:7-9, and of what encouragement and strength he received from him, by words and touches, to listen to what he said; and to expect a discovery and an understanding of things of moment and importance, which should be in future times, Da 10:10-21.
