121to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for 2building up 3the body of Christ,
until we all attain to 4the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, 5to mature manhood,a to the measure of the stature of 6the fullness of Christ,
so that we may no longer be children, 7tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in 8deceitful schemes.
Rather, 9speaking the truth in love, we are to 10grow up in every way into him who is 11the head, into Christ,
1612from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, 13when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
Now this I say and 14testify in the Lord, 15that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, 16in the futility of their minds.
They 17are darkened in their understanding, 18alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to 19their hardness of heart.
They 20have become callous and 21have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.
But that is not the way you 22learned Christ!--
assuming that 23you have heard about him and 24were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,
to 25put off 26your old self,b which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through 27deceitful desires,
