Are you so foolish? 1Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected bya the flesh?
42Did you sufferb so many things in vain--if indeed it was in vain?
Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and 3works miracles among you do so 4by works of the law, or by hearing with faith--
just as 5Abraham "believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness"?
Know then that it is 6those of faith who are 7the sons of Abraham.
And the Scripture, foreseeing that 8God would justifyc the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, 9"In you shall all the nations be blessed."
So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
For all who rely on works of the law are 10under a curse; for it is written, 11"Cursed be everyone who does not 12abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them."
Now it is evident that 13no one is justified before God by the law, for 14"The righteous shall live by faith."d12
But the law is not of faith, rather 15"The one who does them shall live by them."
Christ 16redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us--for it is written, 17"Cursed is everyone who is hanged 18on a tree"--
