John 20:14-24

14 Having said this, she turned around and ¹saw Jesus standing, ²but she did not know that it was Jesus.

15 Jesus said to her, ³"Woman, why are you weeping? ⁴Whom are you seeking?" Supposing him to be ⁵the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away."

16 Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him in Aramaic,^[a]6"Rabboni!" (which means Teacher).

17 Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to ⁷my brothers and say to them, ⁸'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to ⁹my God and your God.'"

18 Mary Magdalene ¹⁰went and announced to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord"--and that he had said these things to her.

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

19 ¹¹On the evening ¹²of that day, the first day of the week, ¹³the doors being locked where the disciples were ¹⁴for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ¹⁵"Peace be with you."

20 When he had said this, ¹⁶he showed them his hands and his side. Then ¹⁷the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

21 Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As ¹⁸the Father has sent me, ¹⁹even so I am sending you."

22 And when he had said this, he ²⁰breathed on them and said to them, ²¹"Receive the Holy Spirit.

23 ²²If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld."

Jesus and Thomas

24 Now ²³Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin,^[b] was not with them when Jesus came.
