33And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.34And 1if you 2lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount.35But 3love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and 4you will be sons of 5the Most High, for 6he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.367Be merciful, even as 8your Father is merciful.
37"Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; 9forgive, and you will be forgiven;3810give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put 11into your lap. For 12with the measure you use it will be measured back to you."39
He also told them a parable: 13"Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?4014A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is 15fully trained will be like his teacher.4116Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but 17do not notice the log that is in your own eye?42How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.
