And it is my prayer that 1your love may abound more and more, 2with knowledge and all discernment,
so that you may approve what is excellent, 3and so be pure and blameless 4for the day of Christ,
filled 5with the fruit of righteousness that comes 6through Jesus Christ, 7to the glory and praise of God.
I want you to know, brothers,a that what has happened to me has really 8served to advance the gospel,
so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guardb and 9to all the rest that 10my imprisonment is for Christ.
And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold 11to speak the wordc without fear.
1512Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will.
The latter do it out of love, 13knowing that I am put here for 14the defense of the gospel.
The former proclaim Christ 15out of rivalry, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment.
What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,
for I know that 16through your prayers and 17the help of 18the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance,
