Zechariah 14:6-16

6 1On that day 2there shall be 3no light, cold, or frost.[a]
7 4And there shall be a unique[b] day, 5which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but 6at evening time there shall be light.
8 7On that day 8living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to 9the eastern sea[c] and half of them to 10the western sea.[d]11It shall continue in summer as in winter.
9 And 12the LORD will be king over all the earth. 13On that day the LORD will be 14one and 15his name one.
10 16The whole land shall be turned into a plain from 17Geba to 18Rimmon south of Jerusalem. But 19Jerusalem shall remain aloft 20on its site from 21the Gate of Benjamin to the place of the former gate, to 22the Corner Gate, and from 23the Tower of Hananel to the king's winepresses.
11 And it shall be inhabited, for 24there shall never again be a decree of utter destruction.[e]25Jerusalem shall dwell in security.
12 And this shall be 26the plague with which the LORD will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
13 And 27on that day a great panic from the LORD shall fall on them, so that 28each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of the one will be raised against the hand of the other.
14 Even 29Judah will fight at Jerusalem. And 30the wealth of all the surrounding nations shall be collected, gold, silver, and garments in great abundance.
15 And 31a plague like this plague shall fall on the horses, the mules, the camels, the donkeys, and whatever beasts may be in those camps.
16 Then everyone who survives of all the nations that have come against Jerusalem 32shall go up year after year to worship 33the King, the LORD of hosts, and 34to keep 35the Feast of Booths.

Zechariah 14:6-16 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO ZECHARIAH 14

This chapter treats of the coming of Christ with all his saints, and his personal appearance among them; and of the signs of the times before that; and of what shall befall the enemies of the church, both open and secret; and of the happy state and condition of the church itself. First there will be a time of great affliction to the people of God, Zec 14:1,2, when the Lord will appear and fight for them, and will appear to them, and with them, Zec 14:3-5 but before this time it will be an uncommon season, neither day nor night; at the close of which, light will break forth, Zec 14:6,7 the Gospel will be spread far and near, attended with the Spirit and grace of God in great plenty, Zec 14:8 which will bring on the spiritual reign of Christ over all the earth, Zec 14:9 particularly the land of Judea, and the city of Jerusalem, shall be inhabited by men with safety, Zec 14:10,11 and all those that oppose and fight against the Lord's people shall be destroyed, partly by an immediate plague from the Lord upon them, and partly by the hands of one another, and also by the saints of the most High; and the plague shall not only be upon their persons, but upon their cattle likewise, Zec 14:12-16 and as for those that profess the Christian name, and yet neglect or refuse to worship the Lord in a spiritual and evangelical manner, there shall be no rain upon them, Zec 14:17-19 and as for the church and people of God, there shall be universal holiness among them, and not a single Canaanite to be found in the midst of them, Zec 14:20,21.
