Salmi 108

1 Cantico di Salmo di Davide IL mio cuore è disposto, o Dio, Ed anche la mia gloria; io canterò, e salmeggerò.

2 Saltero, e cetera, destati; Io mi risveglierò all’alba.

3 Io ti celebrerò fra i popoli, o Signore, E ti salmeggerò fra le nazioni.

4 Perciocchè la tua benignità è grande, disopra il cielo; E la tua verità aggiunge infino alle nuvole.

5 Innalzati, o Dio, sopra i cieli; Ed innalzisi la tua gloria sopra tutta le terra;

6 Acciocchè i tuoi diletti sieno liberati; Salvami colla tua destra, e rispondimi.

7 Iddio ha parlato per la sua santità; io trionferò, Io spartirò Sichem, e misurerò la valle di Succot.

8 Mio è Galaad, mio è Manasse; Ed Efraim è la forza del mio capo; Giuda è il mio legislatore;

9 Moab è la caldaia del mio lavatoio; Io getterò le mie scarpe sopra Edom; Io trionferò della Palestina con voci di allegrezza.

10 Chi mi condurrà nella città della fortezza? Chi mi menerà fino in Edom?

11 Non sarai desso tu, o Dio, che ci avevi scacciati, E non uscivi più fuori, o Dio, co’ nostri eserciti?

12 Dacci aiuto, per uscir di distretta; Perciocchè il soccorso degli uomini è vanità.

13 Coll’aiuto di Dio noi faremo prodezze; Ed egli calpesterà i nostri nemici.

Salmi 108 Commentary

Chapter 108

- We may usefully select passages from different psalms, as here, ( Psalm 57 , Psalm 60 ) , to help our devotions, and enliven our gratitude. When the heart is firm in faith and love, the tongue, being employed in grateful praises, is our glory. Every gift of the Lord honours and profits the possessor, as it is employed in God's service and to his glory. Believers may pray with assured faith and hope, for all the blessings of salvation; which are secured to them by the faithful promise and covenant of God. Then let them expect from him help in every trouble, and victory in every conflict. Whatever we do, whatever we gain, God must have all the glory. Lord, visit all our souls with this salvation, with this favour which thou bearest to thy chosen people.

\\<>\\. This psalm consists of several passages out of the fifty seventh and sixtieth psalms, with very little variation. Jarchi and Kimchi refer it to the times of the Messiah. The title in the Syriac version is, ``concerning the calling of the Gentiles,'' to which, no doubt, it has respect.
