15 But the Lord's love for your ancestors was so strong that he chose you instead of any other people, and you are still his chosen people.

Deuteronomy 10:15 Meaning and Commentary

Deuteronomy 10:15

Only the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to love them
Though the heavens and the earth, and all the inhabitants of them are the Lord's by creation, yet he had a special regard unto, and a peculiar complacency in, the fathers of the Israelites, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; from whence arose some particular expressions of love to them, signified by various acts of kindness done them, and promises made unto them:

and he chose their seed after them, even you above all the people, as
[it is] this day;
to be a special people to him, to enjoy civil and religious privileges greater than any other; and particularly to have his law given to them, his tabernacle and worship set up among them, which were at this time, and which gave them the preference to all other nations; see ( Deuteronomy 4:7 Deuteronomy 4:8 ) ( Deuteronomy 7:6 Deuteronomy 7:7 Deuteronomy 7:8 ) ( Psalms 147:19 Psalms 147:20 ) ( Romans 3:1 Romans 3:2 ) ( Romans 9:4 Romans 9:5 ) .

Deuteronomy 10:15 In-Context

13 and obey all his laws. I am giving them to you today for your benefit.
14 To the Lord belong even the highest heavens; the earth is his also, and everything on it.
15 But the Lord's love for your ancestors was so strong that he chose you instead of any other people, and you are still his chosen people.
16 So then, from now on be obedient to the Lord and stop being stubborn.
17 The Lord your God is supreme over all gods and over all powers. He is great and mighty, and he is to be obeyed. He does not show partiality, and he does not accept bribes.
