Genesis 39:19

19 Joseph's master was furious

Genesis 39:19 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 39:19

And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his
wife
The story she related concerning Joseph, which was her own invention, and a lie: which she spake unto him, saying, after this manner did thy servant to
me;
attempting to violate her chastity, as she pretended: that his wrath was kindled;
that is, against Joseph, without strictly examining her words, which they would not bear, her story being but ill put together, and without hearing Joseph's defence.

Genesis 39:19 In-Context

17 Then she told him the same story: "That Hebrew slave that you brought here came into my room and insulted me.
18 But when I screamed, he ran outside, leaving his robe beside me."
19 Joseph's master was furious
20 and had Joseph arrested and put in the prison where the king's prisoners were kept, and there he stayed.
21 But the Lord was with Joseph and blessed him, so that the jailer was pleased with him.
