Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.1 It is good for our hearts to be strengthened2 by grace, not by ceremonial foods,3 which are of no value to those who eat them.410
We have an altar from which those who minister at the tabernacle5 have no right to eat.611
The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering,7 but the bodies are burned outside the camp.812
And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate9 to make the people holy10 through his own blood.1113
Let us, then, go to him12 outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.1314
For here we do not have an enduring city,14 but we are looking for the city that is to come.1515
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice16 of praise--the fruit of lips17 that confess his name.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others,18 for with such sacrifices19 God is pleased.
Obey your leaders20 and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you21 as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Pray for us.22 We are sure that we have a clear conscience23 and desire to live honorably in every way.
I particularly urge you to pray so that I may be restored to you soon.24
