Psalms 107:33 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 107:33

He turneth rivers into a wilderness
A country abounding with rivers, as the country round about Sodom and the land of Canaan were, ( Genesis 13:10 ) ( Deuteronomy 8:7 ) . Such an one is sometimes, by the just judgment of God, turned into a desert.

And the water springs into dry ground:
what was like a well watered garden becomes like dry and barren earth, on which nothing grows.

Psalms 107:33 In-Context

31 Let them praise the LORD for his lovingkindness, For his wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Let them exalt him also in the assembly of the people, And praise him in the seat of the Zakenim.
33 He turns rivers into a desert, Water springs into a thirsty ground,
34 And a fruitful land into a salt waste, For the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
35 He turns a desert into a pool of water, And a dry land into water springs.
