Isaiah 40:20-30 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
20 A man too poor to present such an offering selects wood1 that will not rot. He looks for a skilled craftsman to set up an idol2 that will not topple.3 21 Do you not know? Have you not heard?4 Has it not been told5 you from the beginning?6 Have you not understood7 since the earth was founded?8 22 He sits enthroned9 above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.10 He stretches out the heavens11 like a canopy,12 and spreads them out like a tent13 to live in.14 23 He brings princes15 to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.16 24 No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root17 in the ground, than he blows18 on them and they wither,19 and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.20 25 "To whom will you compare me?21 Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One.22 26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:23 Who created24 all these?
