Isaiah 46:4-13 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
4 Even to your old age and gray hairs1 I am he,2 I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain3 you and I will rescue you. 5 "To whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?4 6 Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith5 to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it.6 7 They lift it to their shoulders and carry7 it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move.8 Though one cries out to it, it does not answer;9 it cannot save10 him from his troubles. 8 "Remember11 this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels.12 9 Remember the former things,13 those of long ago;14 I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.15 10 I make known the end from the beginning,16 from ancient times,17 what is still to come.18 I say: My purpose will stand,19 and I will do all that I please. 11 From the east I summon20 a bird of prey;21 from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned,22 that will I do.23 12 Listen24 to me, you stubborn-hearted,25 you who are far from righteousness.26 13 I am bringing my righteousness27 near, it is not far away; and my salvation28 will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion,29 my splendor30 to Israel.
