Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith5 to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it.67
They lift it to their shoulders and carry7 it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move.8 Though one cries out to it, it does not answer;9 it cannot save10 him from his troubles.
"Remember11 this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels.129

From the east I summon20 a bird of prey;21 from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned,22 that will I do.2312
Listen24 to me, you stubborn-hearted,25 you who are far from righteousness.2613
I am bringing my righteousness27 near, it is not far away; and my salvation28 will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion,29 my splendor30 to Israel.
