Isaiah 52:1-6 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
1 Awake, awake,1 O Zion, clothe yourself with strength.2 Put on your garments of splendor,3 O Jerusalem, the holy city.4 The uncircumcised5 and defiled6 will not enter you again.7 2 Shake off your dust;8 rise up,9 sit enthroned, O Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck,10 O captive Daughter of Zion.11 3 For this is what the LORD says: "You were sold for nothing,12 and without money13 you will be redeemed.14" 4 For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "At first my people went down to Egypt15 to live; lately, Assyria16 has oppressed them. 5 "And now what do I have here?" declares the LORD. "For my people have been taken away for nothing, and those who rule them mock,a " declares the LORD. "And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed.17 6 Therefore my people will know18 my name;19 therefore in that day20 they will know that it is I who foretold21 it. Yes, it is I."
