Sharon1 will become a pasture for flocks,2 and the Valley of Achor3 a resting place for herds, for my people who seek4 me.
"But as for you who forsake5 the LORD and forget my holy mountain,6 who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine7 for Destiny,
I will destine you for the sword,8 and you will all bend down for the slaughter;9 for I called but you did not answer,10 I spoke but you did not listen.11 You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."1213
Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My servants will eat,13 but you will go hungry;14 my servants will drink,15 but you will go thirsty;16 my servants will rejoice,17 but you will be put to shame.1814
My servants will sing19 out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out20 from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.
You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse;21 the Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.2216
Whoever invokes a blessing23 in the land will do so by the God of truth;24 he who takes an oath in the land will swear25 by the God of truth. For the past troubles26 will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.
"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.27 The former things will not be remembered,28 nor will they come to mind.
But be glad and rejoice29 forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem30 to be a delight and its people a joy.
I will rejoice31 over Jerusalem and take delight32 in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying33 will be heard in it no more.
"Never again will there be in it an infant34 who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years;35 he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reacha a hundred will be considered accursed.
