both your sins1 and the sins of your fathers,"2 says the LORD. "Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills,3 I will measure into their laps the full payment4 for their former deeds."
This is what the LORD says: "As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes5 and men say, 'Don't destroy it, there is yet some good in it,' so will I do in behalf of my servants;6 I will not destroy them all.
I will bring forth descendants7 from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess8 my mountains; my chosen9 people will inherit them, and there will my servants live.1010
Sharon11 will become a pasture for flocks,12 and the Valley of Achor13 a resting place for herds, for my people who seek14 me.
"But as for you who forsake15 the LORD and forget my holy mountain,16 who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine17 for Destiny,
I will destine you for the sword,18 and you will all bend down for the slaughter;19 for I called but you did not answer,20 I spoke but you did not listen.21 You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."2213
Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My servants will eat,23 but you will go hungry;24 my servants will drink,25 but you will go thirsty;26 my servants will rejoice,27 but you will be put to shame.2814
My servants will sing29 out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out30 from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.
You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse;31 the Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.3216
Whoever invokes a blessing33 in the land will do so by the God of truth;34 he who takes an oath in the land will swear35 by the God of truth. For the past troubles36 will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.
