7 Ciertamente las cosas inanimadas que hacen sonidos, como la flauta o la vihuela, si no dieren distinción de voces, ¿cómo se sabrá lo que se tañe con la flauta, o con la vihuela

1 Corinthians 14:7

And even things without life giving sound
He instances in things inanimate, that have neither reason, sense, nor life, in musical instruments, and these of various sorts:

whether pipe or harp;
wind music, or hand music; either that which is blown with the breath, or pressed or stricken with the hand:

except they give a distinction in the sounds;
or "tunes", so as one may be discerned from another; as that this is such a musical note, and that is another:

how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
what tune is played; such an use of instruments would be a mere jargon, and not music, and so yield no pleasure to the ear, or mind; and just the like must speaking in an unknown tongue be, to one that understands it not.

5 Así que, quisiera que todos vosotros hablaseis lenguas, pero quisiera más que profetizaceis, porque mayor es el que profetiza que el que habla lenguas, a no ser que interpretare, para que la Iglesia tome edificación

6 Ahora pues, hermanos, si yo fuere a vosotros hablando lenguas, ¿qué os aprovechará, si no os hablare, o con revelación, o con ciencia, o con profecía, o con doctrina

8 Y si la trompeta diere sonido incierto, ¿quién se apercibirá a la batalla

9 Así también vosotros, si por la lengua no diereis palabra bien significativa, ¿cómo se entenderá lo que se dice? Porque hablaréis al aire
