Then the LORD said to me: "Even if Moses1 and Samuel2 were to stand before me, my heart would not go out to this people.3 Send them away from my presence!4 Let them go!
And if they ask you, 'Where shall we go?' tell them, 'This is what the LORD says: " 'Those destined for death, to death; those for the sword, to the sword;5 those for starvation, to starvation;6 those for captivity, to captivity.'73
"I will send four kinds of destroyers8 against them," declares the LORD, "the sword9 to kill and the dogs10 to drag away and the birds11 of the air and the beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.124
I will make them abhorrent13 to all the kingdoms of the earth14 because of what Manasseh15 son of Hezekiah king of Judah did in Jerusalem.
"Who will have pity16 on you, O Jerusalem? Who will mourn for you? Who will stop to ask how you are?
You have rejected17 me," declares the LORD. "You keep on backsliding. So I will lay hands18 on you and destroy you; I can no longer show compassion.197
I will winnow20 them with a winnowing fork at the city gates of the land. I will bring bereavement21 and destruction on my people,22 for they have not changed their ways.238
I will make their widows24 more numerous than the sand of the sea. At midday I will bring a destroyer25 against the mothers of their young men; suddenly I will bring down on them anguish and terror.269
The mother of seven will grow faint27 and breathe her last.28 Her sun will set while it is still day; she will be disgraced29 and humiliated. I will put the survivors to the sword30 before their enemies,"31 declares the LORD.
Alas, my mother, that you gave me birth,32 a man with whom the whole land strives and contends!33 I have neither lent34 nor borrowed, yet everyone curses35 me.
