View In My Bible
25 The LORD has opened his arsenal and brought out the weapons1 of his wrath, for the Sovereign LORD Almighty has work to do in the land of the Babylonians.2 26 Come against her from afar.3 Break open her granaries; pile her up like heaps of grain.4 Completely destroy5 her and leave her no remnant. 27 Kill all her young bulls;6 let them go down to the slaughter!7 Woe to them! For their day8 has come, the time9 for them to be punished. 28 Listen to the fugitives10 and refugees from Babylon declaring in Zion11 how the LORD our God has taken vengeance,12 vengeance for his temple.13 29 "Summon archers against Babylon, all those who draw the bow.14 Encamp all around her; let no one escape.15 Repay16 her for her deeds;17 do to her as she has done. For she has defied18 the LORD, the Holy One19 of Israel. 30 Therefore, her young men20 will fall in the streets; all her soldiers will be silenced in that day," declares the LORD. 31 "See, I am against21 you, O arrogant one," declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty, "for your day22 has come, the time for you to be punished. 32 The arrogant23 one will stumble and fall24 and no one will help her up;25 I will kindle a fire26 in her towns that will consume all who are around her." 33 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "The people of Israel are oppressed,27 and the people of Judah as well. All their captors hold them fast, refusing to let them go.28 34 Yet their Redeemer29 is strong; the LORD Almighty30 is his name. He will vigorously defend their cause31 so that he may bring rest32 to their land, but unrest to those who live in Babylon. 35 "A sword33 against the Babylonians!"34 declares the LORD-- "against those who live in Babylon and against her officials and wise35 men!
