Leviticus 26:7

7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.

Leviticus 26:7 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 26:7

And ye shall chase your enemies
Who being overcome in battle, and put to the flight, should be pursued: and they shall fall before you by the sword;
not by the sword of one another, as the Midianites did, ( Judges 7:21 Judges 7:22 ) , so Jarchi; but rather by the sword of the Israelites, for oftentimes multitudes of the enemy are killed in a pursuit.

Leviticus 26:7 In-Context

5 And your threshing shall last unto the vintage, and the vintage shall last unto the sowing time; and ye shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land safely.
6 For I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and no one shall make you afraid; and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
8 And five of you shall chase one hundred, and one hundred of you shall put ten thousands to flight; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
9 For I will return unto you and make you fruitful and multiply you and establish my covenant with you.
