Leviticus 25:19 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 25:19

And the land shall yield her fruit
That is, continually, and even in the seventh year, the sabbath of rest; for the land, though not manured, ploughed, and sowed, nor the vines, olives, and fig trees pruned, yet shall yield fruit as in other years, the Israelites observing the statutes and judgments of God: and ye shall eat your fill;
feel no want of provisions, but have fulness of everything as at other times, and never make a scanty meal, having sufficiency and plenty of all things: and dwell therein in safety;
not fearing enemies, nor being disturbed by them, nor carried captive.

Leviticus 25:19 In-Context

17 And you must not oppress {one another}, but you shall revere your God, because I [am] Yahweh, your God.
18 " 'And you shall do my statutes, and you must keep my regulations, and you shall do them, so that you shall live {securely} on the land.
19 And the land shall give its fruit, and you shall eat {your fill}, and you shall live {securely} on it.
20 And if you should say, "What shall we eat in the seventh year, {if} we do not sow and we do not gather its yield?"
21 then I will command my blessing for you in the sixth year, so that it will make the yield for three years.
