Leviticus 26:7

7 And you shall pursue your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword {before you}.

Leviticus 26:7 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 26:7

And ye shall chase your enemies
Who being overcome in battle, and put to the flight, should be pursued: and they shall fall before you by the sword;
not by the sword of one another, as the Midianites did, ( Judges 7:21 Judges 7:22 ) , so Jarchi; but rather by the sword of the Israelites, for oftentimes multitudes of the enemy are killed in a pursuit.

Leviticus 26:7 In-Context

5 And for you [the] threshing season shall overtake [the] grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall overtake [the] sowing, and you shall eat your food {to your fill} and you shall live {securely} in your land.
6 And I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and there shall not be {anybody who makes you afraid}, and I will remove harmful animals from the land, and {no sword shall pass through your land}.
7 And you shall pursue your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword {before you}.
8 And five of you shall pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you shall pursue a myriad; and your enemies shall fall by the sword {before you}.
9 And I will turn to you, and I will make you fruitful, and I will make you numerous; and I will keep my covenant with you.
