41 "And now, watch this! People pouring out of the north, hordes of people, A mob of kings stirred up from far-off places.

Jeremiah 50:41

Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great
nation
The Modes and Persians, whose country lay north of Babylon: (See Gill on Jeremiah 50:9); and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth;
the kings of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz, ( Jeremiah 51:27 ) ; and of the Armenians and other nations that Cyrus had subdued and brought with him in his army against Babylon, as Xenophon F19 relates. Ten kings shall be raised up against mystical Babylon, and hate her, and burn her with fire, ( Revelation 17:12 Revelation 17:16 ) .

39 The place will be haunted with jackals and scorpions, night-owls and vampire bats. No one will ever live there again. The land will reek with the stench of death.
40 It will join Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors, the cities I did away with." God's Decree. "No one will live there again. No one will again draw breath in that land, ever.

42 Flourishing deadly weapons, barbarians they are, cruel and pitiless. Roaring and relentless, like ocean breakers, they come riding fierce stallions, In battle formation, ready to fight you, Daughter Babylon!
43 Babylon's king hears them coming. He goes white as a ghost, limp as a dishrag. Terror-stricken, he doubles up in pain, helpless to fight, like a woman giving birth to a baby.
