Luke 13:20 Meaning and Commentary

Luke 13:20

And again he said
That is, Jesus, as the Syriac and Persic versions express it; besides the parable of the grain of mustard seed, that also of the leaven hid in three measures of meal:

whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God;
either the Gospel of the kingdom, and the mysteries of it; or the church, which is Christ's kingdom; or the grace of God in the heart, which makes meet for the kingdom of glory; the first seems rather to be intended; (See Gill on Matthew 13:33).

Luke 13:20 In-Context

18 Then he said, "How can I picture God's kingdom for you? What kind of story can I use?
19 It's like a pine nut that a man plants in his front yard. It grows into a huge pine tree with thick branches, and eagles build nests in it."
20 He tried again. "How can I picture God's kingdom?
21 It's like yeast that a woman works into enough dough for three loaves of bread - and waits while the dough rises."
22 He went on teaching from town to village, village to town, but keeping on a steady course toward Jerusalem.
