Proverbs 19:15

15 Life collapses on loafers; lazybones go hungry.

Proverbs 19:15 Meaning and Commentary

Proverbs 19:15

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep
Slothful persons are generally sleepy, and are very desirous of sleep, and indulge themselves in it; they spend their time, day and night, in sleep and drowsiness; and are quite careless and unconcerned about either their temporal or eternal good; see ( Proverbs 6:9-11 ) ; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger;
and perish with it, both in a temporal and spiritual sense: an idle person, that will not work, ought not to eat; and an idle soul, or one that is unconcerned about his soul, and the spiritual food of it, shall perish for want of it.

Proverbs 19:15 In-Context

13 A parent is worn to a frazzle by a stupid child; a nagging spouse is a leaky faucet.
14 House and land are handed down from parents, but a congenial spouse comes straight from God.
15 Life collapses on loafers; lazybones go hungry.
16 Keep the rules and keep your life; careless living kills.
17 Mercy to the needy is a loan to God, and God pays back those loans in full.
