Psalms 44:15 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 44:15

My confusion [is] continually before me
Meaning that which is the occasion of it; and the shame of my face hath covered me;
not by reason of sin, which is often the cause of confusion and shame in God's people; see ( Jeremiah 3:25 ) ( Daniel 9:8 ) ; but on account of what follows.

Psalms 44:15 In-Context

13 You made people on the street, urchins, poke fun and call us names.
14 You made us a joke among the godless, a cheap joke among the rabble.
15 Every day I'm up against it, my nose rubbed in my shame -
16 Gossip and ridicule fill the air, people out to get me crowd the street.
17 All this came down on us, and we've done nothing to deserve it.
