11Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.
2Now2I praise you because you 3remember me in everything and 4holdfirmly to the traditions, just as I delivered them to you.
3
But I want you to understand that aChrist is the 5head of everyman, and 6the man is the head of a woman, and God is the 7head of bChrist.
4Everyman who has something on his head while prayingor8prophesyingdisgraces his head.
5
But every9woman who has her headuncovered while prayingorprophesyingdisgraces her head, for she is one and the same as the womancwhose head is 10shaved.
6
For if a woman does not coverdher head, let her alsoehave her haircutoff ; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to fhave her haircutofforgher head shaved, let her coverhher head.
7
For a manought not to have his headcovered, since he is the 11image and glory of God ; but the woman is the glory of man.
8
For 12manidoes not originate from woman, but woman from man ;
9
for indeedman was not created for the woman'ssake, but 13woman for the man'ssake.
10Therefore the womanought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.
11However, in the Lord, neither is womanjindependent of man, nor is mankindependent of woman.
12
For as the womanloriginates from the man, soalso the man has his birth through the woman ; and 14allthingsmoriginate 15from God.
1316Judgenfor yourselves : is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered ?
14
Does not evennatureitselfteach you that if a manhaslonghair, it is a dishonor to him,
15
but if a womanhaslonghair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her for a covering.
16
But ifone is inclined to be contentious, 17we havenoootherpractice, nor have 18the churches of God.
