15so that noone would say you were baptizedain my name.
16Now I did baptizealso the 1household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not knowwhether I baptizedanyother.
172For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, 3not in bcleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be madevoid.
For the word of the cross is 4foolishness to 5those who care perishing, but to us who dare being saved it is 6the power of God.
For it is written, "7I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SETASIDE."
208Where is the wiseman? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of 9thisage? Has not God10madefoolish the wisdom of 11the world?
For since in the wisdom of God12the worldthrough its wisdom did not come to knowGod, 13God was well-pleasedthrough the 14foolishness of the emessagepreached to 15savethose who believe.
For indeed16Jewsask for fsigns and Greekssearch for wisdom;
but we preachg17Christcrucified, 18to Jews a stumblingblock and to Gentiles19foolishness,
but to those who are 20the called, bothJews and Greeks, Christ21the power of God and 22the wisdom of God.
25Because the 23foolishness of God is wiser than men, and 24the weakness of God is stronger than men.
